Indiana Fever star Aliyah Boston left their matchup with the Seattle Storm early on Tuesday night after an awkward knee injury.
Boston, in the second quarter of the matchup at Climate Pledge Arena, set a screen and started rolling to the basket from the top of the key. But as she tried to get past Flau’jae Johnson, the two got tangled up and Boston fell down to the court hard.
She landed directly on her right knee, and grabbed it instantly as she picked up the foul.
Boston remained down on the court for quite some time. She was eventually helped up and off the floor, and she limped back to the locker room with a towel over her head.
The Fever said at halftime that she was questionable to return with a “right lower leg” injury. Further specifics of the injury are not yet known.
Boston had 11 points and two rebounds when she went down. She entered the night averaging 17.3 points and 8.5 rebounds per game this season.
The Fever, despite leading by as many as 20, took just an 11-point lead into halftime after committing eight turnovers in the period alone. Kelsey Mitchell drained a 3-pointer at the buzzer to make it a double-digit game at the break.
The Storm carried a league-worst 6-23 record into Tuesday’s contest, the first after the All-Star break. The Fever sit at 17-10, which has them in fifth in the league standings.
