The Los Angeles Dodgers won their 99th game on Saturday and have an opportunity to reach 100 on Sunday. But during their 4-3 victory over the San Francisco Giants, the Dodgers lost a key reliever for the remainder of the 2026 season.

Blake Treinen suffered a shoulder injury while warming up in the bullpen during the seventh inning and was not able to pitch. Brock Stewart came in for the Dodgers instead.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that Treinen’s shoulder “flared up” as he prepared to pitch. He will undergo imaging exams to determine the extent of the injury, but the Dodgers expect Treinen’s season to be over.

Treinen, 38, returned to the Dodgers’ roster after being sidelined for approximately 10 weeks and missing 62 games with right elbow inflammation. In seven appearances since being activated, he allowed 3 runs and 8 hits with 6 strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings for a 4.05 ERA.

During the 2022 season, Treinen developed a sore right shoulder that eventually became an injury that required surgery to repair his labrum and rotator cuff. He missed the entire 2023 campaign as a result. But it’s uncertain as to whether Treinen’s current injury is connected to those past issues in any manner.

In six seasons with the Dodgers, Treinen compiled a 2.88 ERA and 12 saves with 236 strikeouts in 206 innings. During his major-league career, the right-hander has also pitched for the Washington Nationals and Oakland Athletics, recording a 2.94 ERA over 12 seasons.
