The Dodgers continue to swap out new arms in the bullpen, including activating right-hander Brock Stewart off the injured list on Wednesday ahead of the series finale with the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.

Unlike his bullpen mate Blake Treinen, as well as Tyler Glasnow, Gavin Stone, and Bobby Miller, Stewart did not rehab with Triple-A Oklahoma City, or with any Dodgers affiliate. His last game pitched with the Dodgers was July 28 against the Seattle Mariners.

Stewart was placed on the injured list on July 31 with shoulder discomfort and he missed 18 games. The veteran right-hander has been on the IL three times this season, also missing the first 36 games of the season while rehabbing from shoulder surgery, then 40 more games with bone spurs in his left foot.

When active, Stewart has been quite effective for the Dodgers, with a 2.45 ERA and 2.09 xERA in 14 games, with 14 strikeouts, five walks, and one save in 14 2/3 innings of work.

To make room for Stewart, Jonathan Hernández was designated for assingment for the third time this season. The right-hander hasn’t pitched since throwing three scoreless innings on Saturday to finish out a loss to the Milwaukee Brewers.

In 16 games with the Dodgers, Hernández had a 5.68 ERA and 4.33 xERA in 16 games, with 22 strikeouts and 13 walks in 25 1/3 innings.

There’s a ways to go until next week, when a rehabbing Glasnow is expected to rejoin the Dodgers rotation if all goes well with his rehab start Wednesday night with Oklahoma City. But with Hernández designated for assignment, a 40-man roster spot is now open for when Glasnow is activated off the 60-day injured list.
