Devin Haney Turns To Liam Paro After Shakur Stevenson, Keyshawn Davis Options Collapse

Haney’s biggest available fight disappeared when Stevenson announced he was no longer interested in pursuing their long-discussed matchup. His mandatory situation also changed after Keyshawn Davis declined the WBO-ordered title fight, opening the door to other opportunities.

Paro emerged as a logical candidate. The Australian southpaw captured the IBF welterweight title in June and would give Haney an opportunity to add a second world championship while remaining active this fall. A unification also carries considerably more value than a voluntary defense against a lesser-known contender.

The business side is equally attractive. Paro would receive the biggest fight of his career against one of boxing’s most recognizable champions, while No Limit Boxing would have a legitimate pay-per-view attraction for the Australian market. Haney also stands to benefit from the additional revenue generated through Australian television rights after seeing two of his highest-profile options disappear within days.

No agreement has been announced, and discussions remain ongoing. If the negotiations progress, Haney would exchange a mandatory defense for a two-belt unification against a reigning champion. After the Stevenson fight fell apart and the Keyshawn Davis route closed, Paro has become one of the most realistic and rewarding options on the table.
