Devin Haney, Keyshawn Davis Receive WBO Purse Bid Extension

Devin Haney and Keyshawn Davis have been granted more time to finalize a deal for their ordered WBO welterweight title fight after both camps jointly requested a 72-hour extension from the sanctioning body.

The WBO announced Monday that the purse bid has been pushed back to Thursday, July 30, at 11:00 a.m. AST at its headquarters in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The hearing will be streamed live on the organization’s social media platforms if the sides fail to reach terms before then.

In a statement, WBO Championship Committee chairman Gustavo Olivieri confirmed that the extension came at the request of both camps.

“Please be advised that upon joint written request of the representatives for Devin Haney & Keyshawn Davis, the WBO Championship Committee has approved a 72-hour extension of the negotiation period for the ordered WBO Welterweight Championship Contest.

“Accordingly, the Purse Bid proceedings have been rescheduled for Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. (AST) at the WBO Main Offices in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Live streamed via WBO Social Media Platforms.

“The WBO remains committed to facilitating the parties’ efforts to reach an agreement while ensuring the orderly administration of its Championship Regulations.”

The joint request is an encouraging sign that negotiations remain active. Rather than allowing the hearing to move forward, both sides chose to keep working toward a deal without outside promoters becoming involved.

If the sides finalize terms before Thursday, the purse bid will be canceled, and the fight can move ahead under the negotiated contract. If negotiations still fall short, the WBO will conduct the bidding process to determine promotional rights for one of the division’s most anticipated matchups.
