Demetrius Andrade, Jermall Charlo Trade Fight Threats

“I want to make the best fights happen,” Andrade said on social media livestream. “You are one of the fighters that claim to be the best. So therefore, I claim that I’m the best. And you have a great story. I have a great story. So we need to fight.”

Charlo answered immediately.

“I want to fight. Let’s do it.”

The agreement lasted only a few seconds before both returned to predicting victory. Andrade dismissed Charlo’s offense, insisting he would jab him to death while calling Charlo’s jab overrated. Charlo responded with repeated promises to knock Andrade out.

Money soon became another topic. Jermall repeatedly asked how much Andrade planned to pay him, while Andrade insisted the financial side would work itself out once Charlo committed to the fight. Charlo also argued Andrade waited too long to pursue the matchup.

David Benavidez became another point of contention. Charlo pointed to Andrade’s stoppage loss against Benavidez while questioning his punching power. Andrade answered by accusing Charlo of avoiding Benavidez.

The conversation was not entirely hostile. Andrade wished Charlo well in training, congratulated him on expecting another child, then returned to challenging him.

The desire to get in the ring was loud and clear between the two aging former champions. The only question is whether the business side of boxing is willing to match their enthusiasm.
