MANCHESTER UNITED might be linked with Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton – but it is his team-mate Daniel Munoz who “dreams” of playing for the club.

Eagles wing-back Munoz, who thrives on the right-hand side of Oliver Glasner’s 3-4-2-1 system, has recently spoken of his hopes of playing for a club like United.

Munoz and Wharton will host Ruben Amorim‘s 3-4-2-1 formation in the Premier League at Selhurst Park on Sunday at the odd kick-off time of 12pm.

Munoz emerged as one of the Prem’s top full-backs last season, following his £6.6million transfer to Palace from Belgian Pro League side Genk in January 2024.

And the 29-year-old Colombia international – whose contract expires in 2027 – has eyes for a bigger move in the upcoming windows.

Speaking earlier this month to AS, Munoz said: “I think there’s a lot of talk about one club or another.

“For me, it would be a dream to play for one of those clubs, whether it’s Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid or Manchester United.

“I think I’m working towards that; every day I give it my all so that maybe one day I can catch the attention of these clubs.

“Right now, I’m focused on my club, on doing things well at Crystal Palace. I’m not really aware of what’s being said.

“I don’t have any information about whether these teams want me or are interested in me. We’ll see when the winter transfer window approaches.”

When questioned about United’s difficulties at wing-back this season, Amorim confessed he was uncertain whether the club would seek reinforcements in the January transfer window or postpone until the summer.

The Old Trafford gaffer did concede, however, that the team requires another attacking wing-back, similar to Amad Diallo, to improve within his system.

Munoz has the second most goal contributions of any Prem full-back since his Eagles debut in February 2024, with six goals and 11 assists in 37 starts last season.

That is more than the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Marc Cucurella and Jurrien Timber.

According to Opta, Amad is the only wing-back with more goal contributions, but he has also played as a winger and attacking midfielder during that time.

Munoz has covered more distance than any other Prem full-back this season, running 132.5 kilometers – over six kilometers more than his nearest rival, Adrien Truffert.

He has also covered the fourth-highest distance of any player behind central midfielders Granit Xhaka (135.3km), Noah Sadiki (134km), and Elliot Anderson (133.7).

His composed finish during Palace’s 2-0 win against Wolves on Saturday took his tally for this term up to two goals and two assists in 12 league games.

Munoz hit the back of the net seven times in 20 league appearances during his first campaign with Atletico Nacional, and followed that up with 19 goals and 20 assists in 148 matches with Genk.

He did not make his debut until the age of 20 after suffering rejections from clubs across South America and Europe.
