The Dallas Cowboys need a reliable wide receiver to pair with CeeDee Lamb. After failing to add one in free agency, they could target one early in the NFL Draft.
The Cowboys have the 12th overall pick, but the ideal receiver may not fall to that pick. Tetairoa McMillan is the best pure receiver in this draft class, and if the Cowboys want to put a star on his helmet, they may have to make a trade. ClutchPoints’ Douglas Fritz proposed the Cowboys should trade up with the Carolina Panthers to land him.
“It’s easier to make trades with weak organizations. The Panthers probably have a poor draft strategy for 2025 just as they’ve done in previous seasons,” wrote Fritz. Therefore, the Cowboys could offer their No. 12 pick and their second-round pick (No. 44), for the Panthers No. 8 and third-round pick (No. 74). This would allow the Cowboys to leap past the Saints and 49ers and select McMillian.”
The Cowboys could simply wait for McMillan to fall to them, but the San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints could both be interested in him.
The 49ers just traded Deebo Samuel away, and the Saints could be looking for young playmakers to surround their new quarterback, whoever that may be. If Sheduer Sanders is available at No.9, then the Saints would likely pass on McMillan. The Bears are seemingly not interested in a receiver with the 10th pick, leaving the 49ers as the biggest threat to take him before the Cowboys.

McMillan was an All-American last season and had 1,319 yards, leading the Big 12. He also scored eight touchdowns. McMillan finished his college career with 37 games, 213 receptions, 3,423 yards and 26 touchdowns. He could be a game-changer for the Cowboys, especially with all the attention Lamb draws from opposing defenses.
