The Chicago Blackhawks had an underwhelming season, with Connor Bedard and his squad recording the second-worst record in the NHL, only behind the San Jose Sharks.
Next season, Bedard will enter the final year of his three-year, entry-level deal. He scored 64 points in 81 games in a somewhat disappointing 2025. The general consensus, though, is that Bedard’s play will improve greatly as he gets more talent around him.
Of course, that is if he decides to stay in Chicago. The likelihood of which improved drastically after Thursday’s postseason media availability.
“I’ve said it so many times, I love being here and the city, the people. Even before I got drafted, I was embraced as one of their own. It’s a special sports town and we have a lot of great players coming up, great people. Anything can get said, I don’t really look at that. (I) don’t really see a lot of that unless someone shows me.” Bedard said.
“People who know me know I love to be here and really trust the direction we’re going. If you get the first overall pick, you’re probably not winning the Cup the next two years. It’s an understanding of where you’re at.
Bedard was vague about his intentions about potentially signing an extension with Chicago when he’s eligible after July 1. The general idea around the league is he will wait until he is an RFA next season to maximize his value.
