The Indianapolis Colts have made some big additions to the secondary this offseason, but could they be looking for another splash move?

After vowing to be more aggressive in free agency during his season-ending press conference, general manager Chris Ballard stuck to his word by adding safety Cam Bynum and cornerback Charvarius Ward to the secondary.

While those were some big moves, Ian Valentino of The 33rd Team believes the Colts are one of the top fits for Green Bay Packers star cornerback Jaire Alexander.

“If offered the right package of Day 2 picks, Green Bay has to at least consider whether it’s the right move to unload an aging, expensive, hurt star. Their cornerback room could use another body, either way, so opening another hole could be painful,” Valentino wrote.

The Colts would likely wait to see if the Packers released Alexander rather than trading for him. He would be a valuable addition to the secondary, but there are some red flags with his profile considering his contract and his recent injury history.

Alexander is in the middle of a four-year, $84 million contract with the Packers. He has two years remaining on the deal with upcoming salary-cap hits of $24.9 and $27.3 million in 2025 and 2026, respectively. A trade is highly unlikely given the state of the contract.

The former first-round pick has played seven games in each of the last two seasons and has surpassed that mark just once over the last four campaigns. He has still been productive during that stretch when on the field, allowing an 80.3 passer rating and 7.3 yards per target over his last 34 games, according to Pro Football Reference.

Adding Alexander to the secondary would be an intriguing move after what the Colts have done this offseason, but it’s more likely they wait to see whether he’s released rather than giving up draft assets.
