The Dallas Mavericks have won the NBA Draft Lottery despite having just a 1.8% chance. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes reacted to the shocking news.
Cooper Flagg is expected to be the No.1 overall pick. The John Wooden Award and Naismith Award winner seems like he is headed to the Mavericks now. Mahomes, a Texas native, is a Mavericks fan and took to X to voice his excitement.
“OMGGGGG!! Let’s goo!!!!!,” Mahomes wrote on X
“GO (Mavericks),” he wrote in another post.
The Mavericks shockingly traded away Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers this season. The move had many fans calling for the general manager, Nico Harrison, to be fired. However, just a few months after losing Dončić, the Mavericks are in a position to draft the best player in college basketball. Mahomes, like everyone else, was confused and shocked when the Mavericks traded away Dončić.

Flagg averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists last season. He led Duke to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament. Flagg won nearly every award he could and was a Consensus All-American. Mahomes will now get to watch his favorite NBA team draft Cooper Flagg with the first overall pick.
The San Antonio Spurs will select after the Mavericks. The third pick belongs to the Philadelphia 76ers. According to the NBA, the Mavericks are the fourth-largest underdog to win the NBA Draft Lottery. Flagg will join Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving as the Mavericks look to move on from Dončić and enter a new era.
Meanwhile, Mahomes and the Chiefs will be trying to avenge their Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Chiefs failed to accomplish the first-ever three-peat in league history last season.
