At some point, it feels like the Bills are finally going to win the Super Bowl, as the franchise has completely turned around under superstar Josh Allen. The reigning MVP tends to light up teams in the regular season, but he just hasn’t found a way to win the AFC championship game to at least get a shot at a Lombardi Trophy.

The Bills won the AFC East for the fifth year in a row thanks to a 13-4 record. They ran away with the division, as the Dolphins finished 8-9, the Jets settled at 5-12, and the Patriots went 4-13. The Bills blew out the Broncos in the first round of the playoffs, then pulled out a tough divisional-round win against the Ravens. Buffalo then faced the vaunted Chiefs in the AFC championship, but it still couldn’t figure out how to beat its arch-nemesis in the playoffs, as the Chiefs won 32-29.

Buffalo at least got to celebrate Allen winning the MVP, but the Super Bowl is still the primary focus for the team — and a new league year means starting that quest over again.

Bills strength of schedule

Buffalo went into last season tied for the sixth-hardest strength of schedule. The Bills’ opponents had a .516 winning percentage in 2023, but Buffalo still won the division and was one win away from playing in the Super Bowl.

This year, the league should be on notice. Buffalo is tied for the 10th-easiest strength of schedule. The Bills’ opponents in 2025 had a .467 win percentage last year. It still won’t be a cakewalk to the playoffs given all that can happen over a season, but Buffalo is set up for success.

Toughest tests: There may not be a tougher home schedule in the NFL. Not counting the rebuilding Jets or Patriots, the Bills will have to play the Dolphins, Ravens, Bengals, Buccaneers, Chiefs, and Eagles at home. If you wanna be the best, you have to beat the best, and Buffalo is going to have to do that this year. At least the games are in Buffalo.

Biggest breaks: Buffalo has an absurdly easy road schedule. Its toughest opponent will likely be Miami, who they play on the road every season. The game against Houston could also be tough, but the Patriots, Jets, Falcons, Panthers, Browns, and Steelers should be much easier matchups.

Bills record prediction

  • Over/under win total: 11.5 (per BetMGM)

Bottom line: It’s surprising that Buffalo is in the top half of the league of easiest schedules, but make no mistake, this is still a top-heavy slate. Buffalo tends to rise to the talent level of its opponents. This can help the Bills hang with the toughest teams in the league, but it can also make the “easy Ws” a little more challenging at times.

If the Bills can play more consistently and handle their business against the weak teams — and still play the good teams close — they should be in for another fun year with a deep playoff run.

Record prediction: 14-3
