NEWCASTLE star Bruno Guimaraes has been labelled “salty” after a notable omission from his list of the best players in the world.
Guimaraes, 27, was asked to name who he thinks the top four players are at the moment ahead of Newcastle’s Champions League clash with Barcelona tomorrow.
The Toon Army return to European football’s elite competition for the first time since 2023 on Thursday and will have to take on one of the tournament favourites from the off.
According to Guimaraes, they will have to face two of the best players in the world when they welcome the Catalan giants on Tyneside.
The Magpies midfielder listed Barca duo Lamine Yamal and Raphinha alongside PSG pair Vitinha and Ousmane Dembele as his top four players.
Despite his list coming across as a strong selection, some fans were quick to point out that there was a glaring omission in the form of ex-Newcastle team-mate Alexander Isak.
Isak, who left Newcastle for Liverpool after a drawn out transfer saga this summer, has been considered by many as one of the best forwards around.
But after Guimaraes didn’t mention his 100-time team-mate, fans speculated that it could be because he is hurt by the manner of Isak’s St James’ Park departure.
One wrote: “Someone’s salty Isak went to Liverpool.”
While another added: “Bro doesn’t rate Isak.”
A third posted: “What about Isak, mate?”
And a fourth asked: “No space for Isak?”
Isak forced his way out of Newcastle this summer by going on strike and refusing to play for the club, ultimately landing himself a £130million deadline day move to Anfield.
However, when Guimaraes was asked how he felt about about Isak’s exit as club captain, he explained that he holds no ill will towards the Swede.
He said: “I think football is business. The club made that choice [to sell him].
“He’s gone, I wish him all the best with everything after what we have shared together.
“But it’s not time to look at the past, it’s time to look forward and look to the future and to look to the game tomorrow.”
