BUKAYO SAKA and Martin Odegaard both went off injured a week away from a crucial visit to Liverpool.

Both players were struck down with injuries either side of half-time.

Captain Odegaard fell awkwardly under a challenge and appeared to hurt his shoulder.

He initially continued but was hauled off after a few minutes and replaced by Ethan Nwaneri.

Arsenal were 1-0 ahead at the time and did not take long to add another, Saka firing past the keeper shortly after Odegaard went off.

But the Gunners talisman also picked up an injury, lasting just eight minutes into the second half.

And after the match, Mikel Arteta suggested that Saka’s injury was the more worrying of the two.

He said: “The injuries were the negative of the day. Martin felt something in his shoulder when he landed on it. He will have a scan tomorrow.

“Bukayo was running with the ball and wrestling with a defender when he felt something with his hamstring.

“For Bukayo to come off, it looks like something that is significant.

“Let’s see. It’s the other hamstring and not the same as a previous injury.

“We are two weeks into the season and have already lost Kai, Martin and Bukayo. It shows how well-equipped you have to be in this league.”
