Anthony Davis disputes ex-Lakers coach’s LeBron James workout claim

Former Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach Lionel Hollins raised eyebrows with a comment he made during an appearance on Sirius XM’s “NBA Today” show on Sunday.

“I’ve got a story to tell you: We got [Anthony Davis] in a trade, and AD comes into the weight room in the morning, and he said, ‘[LeBron!] You said if I came in, we were gonna work out together! Man, we haven’t worked out yet!'” Hollins recounted.

“[Lebron] said, ‘Well, you’ve got to get up a little earlier to come and work out with me.’ And it was a true statement, because LeBron’s a morning person. He gets up, he does when he needs to do. And AD is sleeping in a little bit later. But he’d get there, and he’d do work. But it couldn’t be with LeBron, because LeBron was already done,” Hollins continued.

Hollins’ story — specifically when he said, “LeBron told him ‘you’ve got to get up a little earlier to come work out with me” — went viral on social media.

And it caught Davis’ attention, who responded with the

Davis’ use of the emoji is a way for him to “call cap” on this story, asserting that it isn’t true.

There’s no way of knowing whether Hollins or Davis is telling the truth. Not to mention that the story would’ve taken place about seven years ago at this point.

Regardless, it’s easy to see why Davis would be upset about Hollins sharing this story, as it subliminally makes him seem like not as hard a worker as James.

Then again, nobody is as hard a worker as James. That’s why he’s the (arguable) GOAT.
