Aaron Boone met with the media to shed some light on Judge’s injury status ahead of Tuesday’s doubleheader against the Rays.
Boone revealed that he suffered a moderate grade right calf strain that landed him on the 10-day injured list, and the Yankees captain received a PPP (platelet-poor plasma) injection as treatment during Monday’s off day. Unfortunately, according to Boone, this means they’re not planning for him to be available for the upcoming Wild Card series. They haven’t officially ruled him out, however, but his appearance is becoming less likely by the minute.
This is certainly frustrating news, as we’ve all been eagerly awaiting the front office to be less ambiguous on the subject. They’ve been very communicative about several injuries throughout the season, but when it comes to the Yankees captain, everyone seems to be playing the cards very close to their chest.
The postseason roster is expected to be released early next week, and without Judge, I’m anticipating that Yankees fans will be a lot less hopeful for the best and more prepared for the worst.
