The Guardians got shut out yesterday with their ace on the mound. Today is the official last day I have hope for this team.
If you cannot beat Jackson Jobe with Gavin Williams on the mound in desperate need of a series win, you’re not going to make the playoffs, no matter how poorly the rest of the AL plays. So, no pressure, Guardians. Lose today and it’s fine… I’ll just enjoy the rest of the season without any expectations or hope.

Chase DeLauter is still day-to-day, but improving… yet his wrist is “stiff and sore.” So… yeah, I don’t know.
Austin Peterson debuted yesterday and did not allow a run. If we are in need of a spot start again, I vote Peterson over Allen.

If the Guardians can’t beat the Tigers today, none of this matters, but, for what it’s worth, the Orioles, Rangers, White Sox and Astros lost yesterday and the Blue Jays won, putting Toronto into the lead for the third wildcard by virtue of holding a tiebreaker over Cleveland. The rest of the Blue Jays schedule is 3 vs. the Athletics, 6 vs. the Orioles, 3 vs. the Tigers, 3 vs. the Rangers. and 3 vs. the Reds. I hate to tell you, but unless the Blue Jays collapse, the Guardians aren’t beating them out for the last wildcard spot. The White Sox are busy falling apart but Cleveland has done almost nothing to take advantage of that fact. Sigh.
