Berlanga posted the poster on his X account with little explanation, creating the impression of a fight promotion without a date or venue. There has been no corresponding announcement from Jake Paul, Most Valuable Promotions or Netflix.

That makes the graphic look less like fight news and more like Berlanga advertising himself for one of boxing’s biggest paydays.

The idea isn’t new. Berlanga has previously pursued Paul and called for a contract when Paul was searching for opponents in late 2025. Paul ultimately went in another direction, fighting Anthony Joshua in December.

Berlanga remains one of the names associated with Paul’s next appearance, although a Tommy Fury rematch has received greater attention. Chris Eubank Jr. and Ryan Garcia have been mentioned as other possibilities.

Financially, it isn’t difficult to understand Berlanga’s interest. A Paul fight would offer considerably more exposure and potentially more money than most of the fights available to him in the super middleweight division.

Berlanga returned on July 26 with a stoppage of Steven Butler at Madison Square Garden. Rather than waiting for Paul’s side to come calling, he now seems intent on selling the matchup himself.

The poster may be fiction. The interest behind it probably isn’t.
