For reasons unclear, particularly with LeBron James no longer on the team, Dillon Brooks is still throwing jabs at the Lakers.
Brooks’ “feud” with LeBron was remarkably one-sided, featuring multiple ejections and multiple game-sealing baskets scored against him. He tried to troll LeBron during the playoffs by showing up for Game 4 against the Thunder…an opportunity available to him only because he had already been eliminated from the playoffs.
But logic would say that LeBron leaving for Philly would spell the end of his feud with the purple and gold. Alas, logic has never been on the side of Brooks, though.
In a recent video with BleacherReport, Brooks was asked about the Lakers’ offseason and implied they’d be in trouble if Luka Dončić wasn’t averaging 40 points per game.
No one has ever accused Brooks of being smart, a consequence of being ejected twice in games against the Lakers in recent seasons.
It’s also not like the team doesn’t have a new superstar who can torture him. Luka already had a long history of owning the Suns before Brooks. Getting to unleash on him next season would be glorious.
While this came before he signed his recent extension, that surely would only add to his arrogance. He certainly has never been short on confidence, either. Some might argue that might have been his undoing in Memphis.
In case you were worried, though, the Lakers-Suns rivalry will remain alive. Or at least remain relevant as Luka looks to carry on LeBron’s legacy of owning Brooks.
