Frank Warren Sees No Reason To Delay Fury-Joshua

Frank Warren believes Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have no reason to delay their long-awaited fight beyond November, arguing that both heavyweights already have enough time to recover before camp.

Warren dismisses the idea that Joshua needs extra rest after being dropped by Kristian Prenga last month. Fury stopped Mariusz Wach on July 24, while Joshua overcame an early knockdown to stop Prenga the following night.

“There is still plenty of time,” the Queensberry promoter told a media roundtable. “The fighters will just need to get into training some time in September, so that is what will happen in early September.”

Fury is spending time with his family on the Isle of Man after completing two training camps following his lengthy absence from the ring. He plans to begin serious preparations once the fight date is set.

“I believe the fight will go on in November,” Warren said.

Questions about Joshua’s readiness increased after Prenga dropped him with one of the first clean punches he landed. Pushing the bout into 2027 offers little benefit, particularly with Joshua having already fought twice this year.

“He has got plenty of time to get ready,” Warren said. “So what does he do if he doesn’t fight? He will carry on training, training and training, and he will be getting older as will Tyson, so what is the point? Get on with it.”

Warren believes Joshua’s vulnerability gives Fury a major advantage, pointing directly to the Prenga knockdown when explaining the danger facing the former champion against a more accomplished heavyweight.

“Looking at the Prenga fight, if that had been Tyson in there, that would have been all over.”

The location remains unresolved. Madison Square Garden has been linked to the event, although Joshua and Eddie Hearn have pushed to keep the fight in Britain. Turki Alalshikh will announce the official date and location.
