Frank Warren Expects Daniel Dubois Fight Announcement Next Week

“He’s good. He’s in a good place. He’s been ticking over,” Warren said to The Stomping Ground. “He said he can’t wait to get back in, and we’re hopefully going to announce that date next week, the week after.”

Warren also confirmed Dubois’ next fight will be a rematch with Wardley, revealing there was little hesitation from the challenger’s camp after their first meeting. He said Wardley’s team exercised the rematch clause within weeks, leaving both sides to finalize the remaining logistics before making the event official.

“They called it on, I think, within two weeks of the fight taking place,” Warren said. “So, it’s there. I mean, it’s there. It’s just all we’ve been doing is working out the logistics and getting the date sorted out.”

Wardley earned the opportunity through the rematch clause despite suffering the first defeat of his professional career. The biggest task facing him is correcting the flaws that Dubois exploited in May. Wardley relied too heavily on power shots, neglected his jab for long stretches and surrendered control of the fight. He will have to fix those problems in training camp without the benefit of a tune-up fight to test the adjustments before facing Dubois again.
