Tyson Fury Explains Why He’ll Miss Joshua Fight

Asked if he would travel to Saudi Arabia to watch Joshua face Kristian Prenga, Fury made it clear where his priorities lie.

“I’ve been away six out of the last seven months. We’re definitely not going to get that. I’m going home to my wife and kids who’ve been supporting me from a distance. I’ve been away in training camp ten weeks. I was away before that for four months,” said Fury.

“I’m going to go home, regroup next week, then we’ll head wherever we’re going to head. Who knows? It’s going to be in Vegas. It’s going to be in New York. It’s going to be in Ireland. It’s going to be in London. Who knows where? It might even be in Pattaya.”

Fury also reflected on his victory over Wach, jokingly giving the event its own place in boxing history despite the absence of a live television broadcast.

“You’ve heard of the Thriller in Manila. You’ve heard of the Rumble in the Jungle. Now you’ve heard of the Bunch-Up in Pattaya. You were all here. The only people. No live television. Mostly the people here got to witness it. The only other chance people are going to get to see it is on ‘At Home with the Furys’ season three,” said Fury.

Before leaving the ring, Fury’s team hinted that Turki Alalshikh is expected to reveal significant news next week.

“He’s done his job now. Let’s see what Anthony Joshua does tomorrow. I’m sure His Excellency Turki Alalshikh will be making a big announcement in the next week. Stay tuned.”

If Joshua defeats Prenga as anticipated, attention is likely to shift quickly toward the heavyweight fight that both camps have already agreed to stage later this year.
