Bill Haney taunted Keyshawn Davis after the WBO ordered a July 27 purse bid for Devin Haney’s mandatory title defense.

Bill knew exactly what he was doing when he fired off that post. The WBO’s order gives Devin Haney a commanding 75/25 purse split as champion if negotiations fail and the fight goes to a purse bid. Instead of celebrating a mandatory title shot, Team Davis suddenly finds itself staring at a brutal financial reality.
As champion, Haney is entitled to 75% of the winning purse bid and has little incentive to give ground while the mandatory process favors him.
The order also changes the conversation surrounding Haney’s options. Before the WBO stepped in, most of the attention was on a fight with Shakur Stevenson. Now the mandatory defense against Davis takes priority, and the July 27 purse bid deadline gives both sides limited time to reach an agreement.
If no deal is reached, the winning bidder will secure promotional rights for the fight under the WBO’s 75/25 split. That reality leaves Team Davis with an important decision. They can either reach terms before the deadline or allow the purse bid process to determine where and under what promoter the fight takes place.
Team Haney has little reason to blink before July 27. The WBO’s order already gives Devin Haney the financial advantage, leaving the pressure on Team Davis to decide its next move.
