Bill Haney Floats Gervonta Davis Fight For 2027, Fans Want It Now

“Who’s tired of G Money already? G Money vs Debo 2027.”

The chances of this fight actually happening anytime soon are practically zero, and Bill Haney floating 2027 is just a way to keep Devin’s name attached to a superstar while navigating a totally different reality.

When you break down where both guys are at right now, the matchup makes no sense for either business model.

Tank’s Post-Roach Inactivity

Tank looked completely human against Lamont Roach in early 2025. That majority draw was a terrible performance where he looked sluggish, got outlanded, and frankly looked lucky to escape with his title after that bizarre non-knockdown knee in the ninth.

The fact that he has been sitting on his hands for well over a year since that scare tells you everything. He is perched at 135, comfortable, and likely looking for a soft landing or a massive rematch to fix that blemish rather than jumping into deep waters.

The 147-Pound Chasm

Devin Haney is all the way up at welterweight now, holding the WBO strap. The weight difference alone kills this. Tank filled out a bit as his career progressed, but he is a natural lightweight who struggled with the size of guys like Mario Barrios when he ventured up briefly to 140. Asking Tank to climb up to 147 to face a guy who rehydrates into a cruiserweight on fight night is a fantasy.

Even if they tried to meet at a catchweight of 142 or 143, the weight-drained version of Haney would be a shell of himself, and a fully fledged 147-pound Haney is way too big for Tank to risk his status against.

Real Obligations on the Table

While Bill Haney is busy talking about 2027, Devin has real problems right in front of him. The WBO is ready to order him to defend that 147-pound title against Keyshawn Davis, who just jumped up to the number one spot. That is a dangerous, legitimate fight that requires actual focus, not social media posturing.

Ultimately, Tank vs. Haney is just Twitter talk. Tank is inactive and exposed at 135, Haney is too big at 147, and the promotional divide combined with the massive weight gap means this remains a paper rivalry used purely for clout.

Rather than debating the matchup itself, many fans questioned why a fight between two of boxing’s biggest names would have to wait until 2027. The replies were filled with criticism, with many accusing Team Haney of delaying the fight instead of trying to make it happen in the near future.

Davis also has unfinished business of his own, making a meeting with Haney far from imminent regardless of the social media exchanges.
