Fan runs onto court to take selfie with Victor Wembanyama during Game 1 of NBA Finals

A fan celebrated what will likely be his final NBA game with a selfie alongside Victor Wembanyama.

Game 1 of the 2026 NBA Finals saw play interrupted in the fourth quarter when a fan ran onto the court and appeared to try taking a selfie with the San Antonio Spurs superstar. He was quickly apprehended by a pair of security workers and rushed off the court.

Wembanyama appeared amused by the interruption, unlike New York Knicks big man Mitchell Robinson. Other camera angles show the fan being roughly dragged further into the tunnel by security personnel and officers.

The fan can likely expect a ban for life from the NBA, which will take an especially dim view of anyone who interrupts a fourth quarter of its marquee event. There could be legal repercussions as well, as it is a crime in Texas to enter a restricted area at a stadium. Criminal trespass and disorderly conduct are both possible misdemeanor charges, with the former punishable by up to 180 days in jail.

This is also only the second time a fan has interrupted a fourth quarter of a major championship, as someone else ran onto the field at Super Bowl LX. His journey ended much more violently.

The Knicks went on to win 105-95, behind 30 points on 31 shots from Jalen Brunson. Wembanyama finished with 26 points, 12 rebounds, 3 blocks and 6 turnovers, but he did shoot 6-of-21 from the field.
