“Good. This is why I tell you, this is the Devin Haney era. The fights you want to see, you want to see Devin in and that’s good. But listen, Keyshawn Davis is trash, and guess what. As soon as we get this money. I know he’s quiet right now, but he can pep his mother f**** a** up. As soon as this money gets right, he’ll have something,” said Bill to Mills City Boxing.
“I’ve been trying to get somebody to like that fight for a while. We wanted Turki, anybody, Ring, anybody. It don’t matter who. You sitting there looking like that, because we know and you know about him. Trash.”
Bernie Davis agreed that a Haney-Keyshawn fight would attract attention, but argued that Keyshawn would need to receive an offer that made sense financially.
“I want to see him fight Devin, for real,” said Bernie. “Keyshawn is a bad dude. If y’all going to give him a fight, make him a fair offer.”
Bill disagreed, pointing to Haney’s history of generating large purses for opponents.
“Bro, since when have you been telling somebody to make us a fair offer? You trying to put road blocks in the s***. How much did he make just then? Come on, everybody that fights Devin gets record-breaking money,” said Bill.
Despite Bill’s criticism of Keyshawn, Bernie praised Haney’s accomplishments and experience while describing the matchup as one of the better fights available.
“He’s the more experienced fighter, for sure. That’s not even a question. I can’t take anything away from what he’s accomplished and his skills set,” said Bernie. “In a fight against Keyshawn, he’s going to have the experience. He’s a three-weight world champion. He’s been in with some of the best fighters in the world, and he’s fared well. I just think it’s a great fight.”
