Eddie Hearn Says Zuffa Barred From Joshua-Fury Fight

Eddie Hearn Says Zuffa Barred From Joshua-Fury Fight

Eddie Hearn says Dana White and Zuffa Boxing cannot be involved in the proposed Anthony Joshua-Tyson Fury fight because contracts signed by both fighters prohibit promotional involvement from TKO-affiliated entities.

The Matchroom chairman addressed White’s recent comments about the long-discussed heavyweight showdown and insisted there is no path for Zuffa to participate in the event as a promoter.

“The reality is the contract’s the contract. The fight doesn’t take place if they have any promotional involvement in the show,” said Hearn to iFL TV.

“So it can’t. It specifically says if Zuffa, TKO, I don’t know how many times I got to tell you this. Yes, it specifically mentions them, and anybody associated with that company cannot have any involvement, promotional involvement in the show.

“Tyson Fury’s contract says exactly the same thing, and that’s been signed. So when you ask him about it, he doesn’t answer the question. He goes, ‘Oh, when have I ever spoken [expletive]?’ But if that says that in a contract, Dana, how can you be involved?”

Hearn maintained that the structure for the event is already in place and does not include Dana or Zuffa.

“The reality is, who is going to promote this show is Eddie Hearn, Frank Warren, Spencer Brown, and Turki. We all had a shake. We’re all going to work together on it,” said Hearn.

“It’s not this big deal about there’s going to be some guest promoter because contractually it can’t work like that.”

Dana recently suggested he would have a role in the promotion of a Joshua-Fury fight, but Hearn dismissed the idea and repeated that the signed agreements leave no room for Zuffa’s involvement.

Hearn’s position is clear. If Joshua and Fury finally meet, he says the contracts already determine who can promote the event, and Zuffa is not on the list.
