Another heavyweight remembered for raw punching power was Lamar Clark, who piled up knockouts against limited opposition during the 1950s and 1960s. Clark finished 43-3 with 42 knockouts, including a stretch of 42 consecutive stoppage victories after winning his professional debut by decision.
At light heavyweight, Billy Fox posted a 48-9-1 record with 47 knockouts. His career was later clouded by his infamous fixed fight with Jake LaMotta, but his knockout numbers still rank among the highest ever recorded at the weight.
Few fighters in history matched the longevity and knockout totals of Archie Moore. The legendary light heavyweight champion, known as “The Old Mongoose,” compiled a staggering 186-23-10 record. Some boxing historians credit Moore with 145 knockouts, while BoxRec lists him with 132 official stoppage victories.
Two lesser-known names near the top of boxing’s all-time knockout lists are Young Stribling and Billy Bird. Stribling, who fought from middleweight to heavyweight during the 1920s and 1930s, reportedly scored 129 knockouts during a 224-win career. Bird, a British middleweight from the bare-knuckle era, was credited with 139 knockouts across 260 victories.
Several modern-era heavyweights also built reputations on knockout power and high finishing percentages.
Former heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko retired with a 45-2 record and 41 knockouts, combining size and technical control with heavy punching. Deontay Wilder became one of the sport’s most explosive one-punch knockout artists, compiling a 45-4-1 mark with 43 knockouts.
George Foreman remains one of the most destructive heavyweight champions in history, ending his career 76-5 with 68 knockouts over two separate eras.
Outside the heavyweight division, former bantamweight and featherweight champion Ruben Olivares recorded 79 knockouts in 89 wins, earning a reputation as one of the hardest punchers ever pound-for-pound.
Heavyweight champion Rocky Marciano also deserves mention for combining knockout power with a perfect record. Marciano retired undefeated at 49-0 with 43 knockouts, overwhelming opponents with relentless pressure and heavy overhand punches.
