Moses Itauma Reportedly Named Daniel Dubois’ WBO Mandatory Challenger

A post from Pound4Pound on X reported that Itauma has been named the WBO mandatory challenger for Dubois’ heavyweight title, with WBO president Gustavo Olivieri said to have formally recommended the unbeaten British contender for the position.

“🚨Moses Itauma is the Mandatory Challenger for Daniel Dubois WBO Heavyweight Title😳‼️” the account posted.

The development would place one of the division’s fastest-rising young heavyweights directly in line for Dubois after Itauma’s recent run of victories accelerated his standing with the WBO.

Itauma, 21, has become one of the most discussed prospects in boxing because of his aggressive style, hand speed, and finishing ability. The southpaw is also trained by Ben Davison, who prepared Fabio Wardley for Friday’s fight with Dubois.

Dubois strengthened his position in the heavyweight division with his win over Wardley, but the possibility of facing Itauma next would immediately give him another dangerous assignment against a younger fighter viewed by many as a future titleholder.

The WBO has not yet publicly finalized the mandatory situation, but Itauma’s name has increasingly been linked to the top of the organization’s rankings following his recent performances.

The Next Massive All-British Clash

A Dubois-Itauma fight would also create one of the biggest all-British heavyweight fights available outside of the Tyson Fury-Anthony Joshua picture, matching Dubois’ proven power and experience against one of the division’s youngest contenders.

The potential matchup would likely generate major interest in the UK because of Itauma’s rapid rise and Dubois’ position near the top of the heavyweight division. Itauma has already been discussed by fans and analysts as a possible future world champion despite still being early in his professional career.
