COCO GAUFF had to ask “are you sure?” when a fan made a bizarre request.

The American tennis superstar, 20, is back in action for the first time since the US Open.

She is competing in the China Open in Beijing.

And after a practice session, the world No6 took time out to meet with fans and sign some autographs.

But after the usual collection of tennis balls, caps and books, Gauff was taken aback by one item stretched out in front of her.

That is because one supporter had presented her LAPTOP to be permanently inked with Gauff’s signature.

The Atlanta ace took a moment to get her head around the unusual suggestion.

Gauff said: “Are you sure?”

The fan replied: “Yes.”

So 2023 US Open champ and Olympic flag bearer Gauff added: “OK” before proceeding to sign the computer and posing for photos.

The laptop appears to be an Apple Macbook – and was therefore almost certainly bought for at least £1,000.

However, it may well be worth a fair bit more than that now with the custom addition making it a unique piece.

Tennis stars’ new careers

PLENTY of tennis stars have stayed involved in the sport since retiring.

But others pursued very different careers. Here are some of the best…

Gauff would face Brit Katie Boulter in round three if both players win their opening matches after byes.

But there is no Emma Raducanu.

She retired hurt from her Korea Open quarter-final with a foot injury.

Raducanu wrote on X: “I sprained some ligaments in my foot which unfortunately need some more time to heal.

“It means I can’t play in Beijing but I hope to be back competing as soon as I can.”
