Wrexham’s Hollywood owner Ryan Reynolds jets in for QPR clash but fans can’t believe who’s stood behind him

RYAN REYNOLDS jetted into the UK to watch his beloved Wrexham take on Queen’s Park Rangers, but fans were left stunned by a special guest seen behind him.

Hollywood actor Reynolds co-owns the Welsh club alongside It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia star, Rob McElhenney.

The duo have seen the club rise from non-league all the way to the Championship after bankrolling three successful promotion campaigns in a row.

However, today the Deadpool star saw his team fall to a 3-1 defeat at the Racecourse Ground against QPR.

It was the second Dragons home game this season the Canadian has flown in to see, but Reynolds is yet to see a win after watching them in a 3-2 defeat to West Brom in August.

But fans on social media were most stunned to see former Manchester United star Phil Jones standing behind the 48-year-old.

Jones, now a coach for the Red Devils Under-18 squad, was watching on in Reynolds’ owners box – also alongside Colin Hanks, the son of Tom Hanks.

It is not clear exactly why Jones was in attendance at the game, although he was likely invited as a special guest of Reynolds as fans on social media suggested the 33-year-old could be offered a coaching role.

Jones’ appearance comes the day before the Manchester derby at the Etihad stadium.

On the match, Jones backed United to get a positive result, telling the club’s website: “It doesn’t matter about form going into the Manchester derby.

“We’ve been out of form many times and gone there and won or got a positive result at Old Trafford. So I fully expect United to get a positive result in the game.

“The atmosphere is always amazing. The build-up during the game, during the week, is always magnified 10 times. So the players know what to expect.

“They’ve dealt with this pressure before. They know what they’re going into, with the environment they’re going into. So it’s no different for a player, they know what to expect.”

Man Utd’s Under-18s were also in action today, beating Burnley 1-0 courtesy of an 89th minute Jim Thwaites penalty won by JJ Gabriel – dubbed “kid-Messi” and called up to train with the senior team by Ruben Amorim at just 14 years old.

The win ensured United’s youngsters maintained a perfect start to their Under-18 Premier League North campaign with four wins from four.

Alongside his coaching duties, Jones has also been seen working as a pundit for Sky Sports this season.
