Wrexham confirm first summer signing ahead of Championship return as fans predict ‘four in a row’

WREXHAM have confirmed the signing of Plymouth Argyle striker Ryan Hardie.

The Scot, 28, has penned a three-year contract with Phil Parkinson’s side.

Hardie impressed during his five-and-a-half year stay in Devon, scoring 74 goals in 248 appearances for the Pilgrims.

Wrexham are believed to have triggered Hardie’s relegation release clause, worth around £700,000.

Upon joining the Championship new-boys, Hardie said: “I’m delighted to get the move done, I’m really happy to get it done so early and I cannot wait to get going.

“To get a full pre-season will be a massive benefit, to get integrated into the squad and learn the way the manager plays and get to know everyone will be important.

“The last couple of seasons, it’s been good getting experience in the EFL Championship and it’s experience I can lean on now.

“I’ve enjoyed playing there, and I’ve managed to score a few goals, so hopefully that can continue this season.

“I love how family-oriented the club is, the community is all together and it really is a one-club City.

“Everything is to do with the football, and I’m really excited to be a part of that – I’ll give everything I’ve got for the badge.”

Hardie impressed during Argyle’s two-year stay in the Championship, scoring 12 goals in the 2022-23 season and ten last time out.

The former Rangers forward also netted the winner as the Pilgrims famously dumped Liverpool out of the FA Cup.

With an eye firmly set on yet another promotion, one Wrexham fan wrote on X: “Here we go 4 in a rowwwww.”

While a second commented: “Huge signing, lad. Buzzing for the new season!”

A third gushed: “What a ridiculous signing. Hahahahaha.”

And another added: “Some signing this, 15 goals in the league next year!”

On leaving Home Park, Hardie said: “Argyle will always hold a massive place in my heart, I’ll always look out for the results.

“I’ll always keep in touch with people here, there’s special people at the club, so it’s one I’ll never forget.”
