William Zepeda Warns Smug Shakur Stevenson to “Put on a Good Show” & Expect Loss on July 12th

William Zepeda Warns Smug Shakur Stevenson to “Put on a Good Show” & Expect Loss on July 12th

William Zepeda sent a message to the smug Shakur Stevenson today, reminding him that they have to “put on a good show” on July 12th, and he’ll be losing his WBC lightweight title at the end.

Shakur’s Arrogance & Style

Zepeda usually doesn’t have to tell his opponents this ahead of time, but this is Shakur he’s talking to. His amateur, non-engaging style is unwatchable for modern fans.

Stevenson has sounded cocky during the build-up to this fight, talking as if Zepeda will be an easy victory for him. Comes across as if the victory is already in the bag.

Zepeda (33-0, 27 KOs) is right to tell Shakur (23-0, 11 KOs) to remember that they must entertain the fans because he has a reputation for being a boring runner since turning pro in 2017.

Stevenson-Zepeda Fight Details

Stevenson-Zepeda will be fighting on July 12th at the Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York. DAZN PPV will broadcast the event.

The last thing Zepeda wants is for him be forced to chase the Eddie Hearn-promoted Stevenson around the ring all night while fans at ringside boo nonstop for 12 rounds.

Turki Alalshikh’s Stance

Turki Alalshikh still chose to include Stevenson on his July 12th card despite his recent proclamation of no longer wanting to see “Tom and Jerry” type of fights.

Alalshikh is essentially asking Shakur to fight in an entertaining, aggressive manner, which he has only shown he can do when facing weak and slow fighters, such as Josh Padley during his career.

William Zepeda’s Message to Shakur

“I’ve heard some comments from Shakur Stevenson. I just want to tell him to keep training. Don’t get cocky. Take this fight seriously,” said William Zepeda on Ring Magazine on X, with his message to Shakur.

“We have to put on a great show, because on July 12th, you’re going to hear, ‘And the new’ [champion William Zepeda.”

Zepeda Spoils Turki’s Plans

A win for Zepeda will ruin Turki and promoter Eddie Hearn’s plans for Shakur. Turki said this week that he would be “very upset if Zepeda” knocks out Shakur because he has “big plans” for him.

It’s believed that Alalshikh will attempt to make a fight between Stevenson and WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis next if things go well for the Newark, New Jersey native on July 12th. Zepeda stands in the way as an obstacle to Turki’s plans. He can ruin everything.
