Las Vegas Raiders’superstar edge rusher Maxx Crosby has been thrust into trade speculation due to the team dealing wide receiver Davante Adams to the New York Jets on Tuesday and Las Vegas’ lack of success in the 2024 campaign thus far.
Though Crosby has stated that he wants to remain in Las Vegas long term, that hasn’t stopped many from constructing potential trade packages involving the Pro Bowl edge rusher.
With speculation continuing to circulate, Raiders owner Mark Davis reiterated in a press conference on Tuesday that Crosby isn’t going anywhere. According to Tashan Reed of The Athletic, the Raiders’ owner balked at the idea of trading his star pass rusher and dismissed the trade speculation, even cracking a joke about the entire situation.
“Oh no, I want to trade Maxx today,” Davis joked. “It’s unfortunate today, but there’s so much outside chatter that is not true. It’s not coming from any sources. It’s not coming from anything… It’s just not happening.”
The Raiders shouldn’t trade away Crosby unless a team offers a historic package for the three-time Pro Bowler. Crosby is a fan-favorite in Las Vegas and the current face of the franchise.
The 27-year-old has established himself as one of the most dominant players in the sport since arriving in 2019, totaling three seasons with double-digit sacks and over 80 quarterback pressures. The former Eastern Michigan standout has also missed just one game in a near six-year career.
Davis knows the value of business in the NFL, and trading away the most marketable player on the roster would lead to less fan appeal and revenue for the Raiders. Not to mention, Las Vegas respects Crosby too much to not abide by his wishes.
“Come on bro, you know where I want to be,” Crosby said amid speculation that he may want out of Las Vegas. “You think I want to be anywhere else? No. I got this s— tatted on my body. I don’t want to go anywhere.”
It’s been an eventful week for the Raiders off the field, but the team will quickly have to turn its focus back to the field as Antonio Pierce’s squad travels to SoFi Stadium to take on the Los Angeles Rams in Week 7.
