Will Levis trade pitch sends failed former second-round pick to lowly NFC team

Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis was once thought to be the future of the franchise under center, but those hopes went by the wayside in 2024.

Levis exploded onto the scene during his rookie campaign in 2023 with some big performances, which led to no shortage of hype around him in Nashville. But he wasn’t able to build on that during his sophomore year, when he was a turnover machine.

With the Titans holding the No. 1 overall pick and possibly set to take Miami’s Cam Ward, it’s very possible Tennessee looks to trade Levis. As a result, Henrique Bulio from Sportskeeda thinks the New York Giants could be a landing spot.

“Levis was constantly compared to Josh Allen during his pre-draft process, especially for his lack of refinement and strong arm,” Bulio wrote. “Allen’s coach in Buffalo was Daboll, who designed a fantastic play to develop the quarterback. It worked perfectly then — could Daboll repeat the feat in New York?”

The Giants recently added veteran backup quarterback Jameis Winston in free agency, and it’s very possible they’ll come away with one of Russell Wilson or Aaron Rodgers, with the former looking more likely.

It certainly wouldn’t hurt for New York to add a quarterback who could be a long-term answer, no matter who else the team brings in.

Levis completed 63.1% of his passes for 2,091 yards and 13 touchdowns to 12 picks. The Kentucky product has shown NFL-caliber ability in spurts and has the requisite mobility and arm strength teams wants, but he has also been incredibly inconsistent and unreliable, especially with turnovers.

As Bulio says, maybe Daboll can mold Levis into a better quarterback like he did with Josh Allen, but we would not hold our breath for that after what we saw from the former second-rounder last season.

That said, for a team without a long-term answer at the position, taking a swing on Levis, who should come cheap because his stock is in the toilet, would be worth it.
