EMILIANO MARTINEZ’s move to Manchester United fell through because of Jadon Sancho, it’s sensationally been claimed.

The Argentine goalkeeper was set to join the Red Devils from Aston Villa after agreeing personal terms last weekend.

But his move to Old Trafford fell through on deadline day and United opted to sign Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp.

And according to Fabrizio Romano, the refusal of “bomb squad” member Sancho to join Villa in a permanent swap deal scuppered Martinez’s move.

He told GiveMeSport: “The idea of Manchester United, from what I’m hearing, was to do a permanent deal swap with Jadon Sancho and Emi Martinez.

“Not to involve any money basically, with a valuation of around £25 million for both players.

“But, at the moment, from what I’m hearing, this is impossible because Sancho is only going on loan.

“Sancho is not accepting a permanent move, so a loan deal to Aston Villa and for Martinez there are other options to explore.”

United and Villa agreed a loan deal for former England international Sancho last night.

And that deal was officially announced by Villa late on Monday night.

SunSport under Villa are set to pay 80 per cent of Sancho’s massive £250,000-a-week wages.

The percentage of wages the Midlands club will pay could rise depending on how successful Sancho is at Villa Park.
