As the NFL prepares to once again dominate Thanksgiving day, the league is bringing in three different musical acts to perform at halftime of each game.

With Shaboozey taking the stage in Detroit and Lainey Wilson getting the opportunity to perform in Dallas, a different kind of musician will headline the third game between the Packers and Dolphins. Lindsey Stirling, who is known for violin performances and has a big online following, will get to perform at halftime in Green Bay.

Stirling is very used to performing on TV in front of a big audience, which is basically how she got the start in her career over a decade ago. However, this year she will most likely perform in frigid conditions at halftime of a Lambeau Field night game.

So, who is the violinist tasked with closing out the halftime performance trio on Thanksgiving?

Who is Lindsey Stirling?

Lindsey Stirling is an electric violinist and dancer who has cultivated a following through her online presence. Originally born in California, Stirling grew up in Arizona where she learned to play violin in middle school before choosing to go to college at BYU.

At 23, Stirling appeared on America’s Got Talent, making it all the way to the quarterfinals that season. While she didn’t win, her exposure helped her release her debut album in 2012, one of seven albums that she would release over a 12-year span.

Stirling’s performances center around her playing the violin while also performing choreography simultaneously. However, in certain songs, she also sings, whether it’s as the main focus of the song or as more of a background vocal. Often, Stirling creates collaborations with other singers, as she has performances with John Legend, Christina Peri, and David Archuleta, among others.

Stirling created her YouTube channel in 2007 and currently has over 14 million subscribers. In recent years, Stirling has grown her audience on TikTok, boasting 4.9 million followers on the social media site.

Stirling has also become famous for her holiday music, as she has released two different Christmas albums over her career. Her most recent album, however, is titled Duality and was released in June of this year.

Lindsey Sterling song lyrics

While Stirling’s songs mainly focus on her violin performance, they still feature a full complement of lyrics.

Shatter Me

Stirling’s most famous song is most likely “Shatter Me,” a 2014 collaboration featuring rock star Lizzy Hale.

I pirouette in the darkI see the stars through a mirror

Tired mechanical heartBeats ’til the song disappears

Somebody shine a lightI’m frozen by the fear in meSomebody make me feel alive and shatter meSo cut me from the lineDizzy, spinning endlesslySomebody make me feel alive and shatter me

Shatter me

Somebody make me feel alive and shatter me

If only the clockwork could speakI wouldn’t be so alone

We burn every magnet and springAnd spiral into the unknown

Somebody shine a lightI’m frozen by the fear in meSomebody make me feel alive and shatter meSo cut me from the lineDizzy, spinning endlesslySomebody make me feel alive and shatter me

Shatter me

Somebody make me feel alive and shatter me

If I break the glass, then I’ll have to flyThere’s no one to catch me if I take a diveI’m scared of changing, the days stay the sameThe world is spinning, but only in gray

If I break the glass, then I’ll have to flyThere’s no one to catch me if I take a diveI’m scared of changing, the days stay the sameThe world is spinning, but only in gray

Somebody shine a lightI’m frozen by the fear in meSomebody make me feel alive and shatter meSo cut me from the lineDizzy, spinning endlesslySomebody make me feel alive and shatter me

Shatter me

Somebody make me feel alive and shatter me

Crystallize

Another one of Stirling’s earlier song, “Crystalize” doesn’t feature any collaborations and the original is solely intrument-based with no involved. Instead, Stirling plays the violin as a substitute for the lyrics, a good example of the type of music she creates.

Elements

Once again off her debut album, “Elements” is another song with no lyrics as part of the original release, as Stirling instead lets the violin do the singing.
