AMAZON have unveiled the stunning new way to enjoy Champions League coverage this season.
Prime Video have launched “Prime Vision” and it is making its debut TONIGHT as Tottenham face Villarreal.
Amazon are once again showing one match per Champions League gameweek.
And their new immersive feature allows fans to watch the game and track the data in “Fifa style”.
What is Amazon’s Prime Vision feature?
Fans that turn on Prime Vision will be hit with plenty of real-time stats overlaying live match footage.
A pitch-map, showing the positions of all 22 players will be displayed on the bottom of the screen.
The AI-generated functions will also label which player is on the ball and their most likely passing options.
And it does not stop there as the speed of sprints flash up on screen when a player is on the move.
That goes with the measurement of long passes, the velocity of shots, live XG (expected goals) of chances and statistics on game momentum.
Prime have created this system and built on top of the analytics they they use in their NFL “Thursday Night Football” coverage.
What have Prime Video said?
Andrew Hornet, Prime’s director of live production, explained: “We wanted to give the viewers something that innovates with a purpose, rather than just that looks pretty.
“This is an alternative that doesn’t disrupt the main viewing experience but offers a new perspective.
“It’s something unique for European football and is designed for the fans who are really interested in tactics without being super-nerdy.
“We know that this will not be for everyone but we want to deliver something that really enhances what fans can see.”
