What can we take from Denver Broncos’ top 30 visits before NFL Draft?

What can we take from Denver Broncos’ top 30 visits before NFL Draft?

Before the NFL draft each year, every team in the league is allowed to set up visits for up to 30 different prospects. These are referred to as Top-30 visits.

These personal visits give teams a chance to get to know a player a little bit more closely, so it goes beyond what they get at the scouting combine or even an individual pro day. In short, teams won’t waste these visits on players they are not interested in potentially drafting.

Ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos have brought in a wide variety of exciting prospects.

Denver Broncos Top 30 visit tracker

Player Position School
Luther Burden III WR Missouri
Jaydon Blue RB Texas
Xavier Carlton DE California
Harold Fannin Jr. TE Bowling Green
Marque Collins CB BYU
Taylor Elgersma QB Buffalo
Nick Emmanwori S South Carolina
Terrance Ferguson TE Oregon
D.J. Giddens RB Kansas State
Ollie Gordon RB Oklahoma State
Marcus Harris CB California
Gunnar Helm TE Texas
Nash Jones G Texas State
Kaleb Johnson RB Iowa
Quinshon Judkins RB Ohio State
Kai Kroeger  P South Carolina
Colston Loveland  TE Michigan
Cam Miller QB  North Dakota State
Devin Neal RB Kansas
Cam Skattebo RB Arizona State
Brashard Smith RB SMU
Mason Taylor TE LSU
Trey Wedig OT Indiana

By that count, the Broncos have hosted 23 different players for Top-30 visits. They still have seven slots available, should they choose to use them.

Looking at this list, we can attempt to deduce a few things as it relates to the Broncos in this draft.

Broncos will make good on taking a running back

General manager George Paton stated earlier this month that the Broncos will take a running back in this draft. The team has been frequently connected to likely first-round pick Omarion Hampton, but he has not been brought in on a Top-30 visit.

While that wouldn’t stop the Broncos from taking him, it looks like the team is targeting one in the second or third round, judging by the names they have brought in. Eight of the 23 visits have been used on running backs, by far the most of any position.

Broncos fans should be thrilled if Kaleb Johnson, Quinshon Judkins, Devin Neal or Cam Skattebo is drafted by the team.

Broncos will also draft a tight end, likely in the first three rounds

Though the Broncos signed Evan Engram in free agency, the idea of drafting a tight end with an early pick is very much in play. Colston Loveland is a possibility in the first round, while Harold Fannin Jr. and Gunnar Helm could be options in the second or third round.

Engram is a huge addition for the offense, but he could be made even better if Sean Payton is able to employ a legitimate two-tight-end attack in 2025.

Are the Broncos looking at a developmental QB?

Two of the more interesting visits the Broncos have held are North Dakota State quarterback Cam Miller and Buffalo quarterback Taylor Elgersma. The Broncos have their guy in Bo Nix, and they are quite happy about that. Justin Stidham is the No. 2 option, but Payton could be looking at getting another QB on the roster to groom as a developmental player and one who could eventually help Nix prepare for games.

The Broncos had three quarterbacks on the 53-man roster last season and they were quite happy with that approach. With Zach Wilson now gone, the team signed Sam Ehlinger in free agency but could be looking to get a young player in the mix as well, perhaps as a practice squad guy.
