West Ham 1-2 Chelsea

25. Chelsea fans didn’t see much from Joao Pedro in their Premier League opener with Crystal Palace last Sunday, but the Brazilian is making his mark tonight.

A goal, an assist, claims for a penalty, and we’ve only just hit the 25-minute mark.

The Premier League season has caught fire with a sensational first quarter of this game.

Three goals, another one disallowed and now the Chelsea fans in full voice.

They were deathly quiet after what will be a goal of the season contender from Lucas Paqueta.

But Joao Pedro has scored one and made the other to put the away team 2-1 up.

A Niclas Fullkrug effort between the two Chelsea strikes was ruled out for offside against Jean-Clair Todibo in the build-up.

“We’ve won it all,” sing the Chelsea fans.

23. And now Chelsea lead!

Like their opponents before them, the West Ham players are questioning the validity of this one, claiming a foul in the build-up.

I don’t think they’re going to get lucky though after Lucas Paqueta was bundled over by Trevoh Chalobah to the left of the penalty area.

Joao Pedro took up possession, eventually picking out the run of Pedro Neto at the far post, and he made no mistake in firing past Mads Hermansen first time.

From 1-0 down, the Blues lead 2-1 midway through the first half!

20. It’s been non-stop so far in this London derby.

You’d think that would make for a rapturous on a Friday night, but no. Weird place, this.

17. Niclas Fullkrug immediately restores West Ham’s lead…

…but as the London Stadium celebrates, there is a check going on for a potential offside in the build-up.

The German strike plundered the ball into the back of the net after a bit of penalty area pinball; the question mark, however, is over whether Jean-Clair Todibo set off to early as he made his run on the underlap.

Eventually, the video officials confirm that the defender was ahead of the last defender, and the goal is chalked off by Michael Oliver.
