‘Weird’ – Paul Sholes and Nicky Butt brutally troll Gary Neville as they open up on iconic kiss in 2010 Manchester derby

PAUL SCHOLES has opened up on his “weird” kiss with Gary Neville during the Manchester derby.

In April 2010, Scholes and Neville stunned everyone when they embraced in a kiss on the pitch after the midfielder’s injury-time winning goal in the 1-0 win.

But Scholes, 50, has now revealed he “didn’t expect” to be kissed by Neville.

During a chat on the The Good, The Bad & The Football, alongside Paddy McGuinness and fellow Class of 92′ star Nicky Butt, the trio were talking about “masculine” things to do after a discussion about the Manchester derby – which United lost 3-0.

And comedian McGuinness then brought up the famous incident of Neville kissing Scholes, to which Butt joked: “That was Nev’s first kiss that was.”

Scholes then recalled: “Tickling me with his little tache he was. I didn’t expect it to be honest.”

McGuinness remarked Scholes had kissed him back, to which Scholes, now smiling, replied: “What do you want me to do? Smack him?”

The conversation continued as McGuinness, 52, argued that kissing a bloke at the football was the most “macho” thing you could do.

He said: “I’ve kissed a few lads and been kissed by a few lads. But weirdly in the context of a fully aggressive game it feels like the thing to do.

“I remember the other week I played in a PGA golf tournament, which I won, with Tubes, and when we were all buzzing afterwards and me and him kissed on the lips.

“And a couple minutes later I thought, I just kissed him on the lips. But it felt like the most natural thing to do.”

Scholes then said: “Nah lips is weird… Maybe on the cheek every now and again. But on the lips is weird.”

Man Utd legend Paul Scholes spotted pouring pints in pub leaving locals stunned

Speaking about his Neville kiss again, Scholes continued: “Yeah I had no idea what he was going to do.

“But you know – I was going to say I love it – I love seeing the picture of it.

“Gary’s emotional and passionate, that’s the way he is.”

McGuinness concluded that segment of the chat by saying: “I’m all for it. It’s testosterone.”

The podcast also included a heartfelt tribute to the late Ricky Hatton, who passed away on Sunday at the age of 46.

A beautiful tribute to the former boxing world champion was seen at the Etihad as Manchester came together to celebrate the late local hero.

Man Utd ratings vs Man City: Mbeumo forces wonder save from Donnarumma but that’s as good as it gets

MANCHESTER UNITED’S miserable start to the season continued after they were brushed aside by neighbours Man City.

Ruben Amorim’s side were unable to come back with a bang after the international break, falling to a 3-0 away defeat.

Phil Foden opened the scoring for City after just 18 minutes with a glancing header that gave Altay Bayindir – keeping his spot despite the arrival on Ssnne Lammens – little chance to stop.

While Erling Haaland did what he does best by bagging a second-half brace to put the hosts out of reach.

United now sit 14th in the table, with City leapfrogging them with their second win of the season.

Here’s how SunSport’s Katherine Walsh rated each Man Utd players performance…
