WAYNE ROONEY will miss this weekend’s Match of the Day.

The former Manchester United star, 39, penned a lucrative contract with the Beeb earlier this year to become a regular on the show.

Rooney debuted during the opening weekend of the season, as MOTD entered its post-Gary Lineker era.

This weekend, however, Wazza will not feature, as he has jetted to South Korea.

The ex-England captain is set to play in the Nexon Icons Match this Sunday.

Taking place at Seoul World Cup Stadium, the game will feature several legendary former footballers.

The intriguing contest will see FC Spear, a team of attackers, take on Shield United, made up of defenders.

Rooney’s FC Spear are set to be managed by ex-Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, while Rafa Benitez will be in charge of Shield United.

Wazza’s team-mates will include the likes of Gareth Bale, Ronaldinho and Eden Hazard.

While he will take on former Man Utd team-mates Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick and Nemanja Vidic.

Stars were given a hero’s welcome from fans as they arrived at Incheon Airport.
