Promoter Frank Warren was bellyaching something fierce following his fighter, Tyson Fury, losing to unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk by a 12-round unanimous decision on Saturday night in their rematch in Riyadh.

Fury’s Hasty Exit

Fury ran out of the ring afterward, not wanting to face the music and have his feet put to the fire to be grilled by the media. What does that tell you? If he thought he won, he’d have stuck around and stood up on his hindlegs and whined about it.

The judges got it right, scoring it for Usyk, 116-112, 116-112 and 116-112. I had it 10-2 in Usyk’s favor. Even in the close rounds, Fury wasn’t doing anything other than throwing backhands and weak jabs.

Warren was “dumbfounded” by the scores of two of the judges, who had Usyk (23-0, 12 KOs) sweeping every round from the six onward against the former WBC heavyweight champion Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs). The other judge had Fury winning only one round out of the last six.

I watched the fight, and I had Usyk sweeping every round from round five. It seemed an easy one to score, as Fury’s reflexes looked shot, and he was doing next to nothing on offense. He looked afraid to throw punches for fear of being countered by Usyk’s sniper-like left hand.

The once slim Fury that defeated Wladimir Klitschko in his prime in 2015 was gone tonight. In its place was a flabby, 40-ish-looking heavyweight who was incapable of pulling the trigger on his punches.

The Gypsy King fought exactly how then 39-year-old Wladimir battled him nine years ago. Wlad couldn’t pull the trigger on that night in Dusseldorf, Germany, and Fury was the same tonight. He was locked up mentally,

Dumbfounded

‘I’m dumbfounded. They gave him [Fury] four rounds out of twelve rounds, which is impossible,” said promoter Frank Warren to TNT Sports Boxing, complaining about his fighter, Tyson Fury, losing on the scorecards to unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch in Riyadh.

“I know I’m biased, but one judge didn’t give him one round from round six onwards. How can that be? That’s impossible. The same with the other judge here. He gave him one round out of the last six. The same here with this guy. It’s crazy.

“I’m calm, I’m collected. I’m not screaming and shouting. That is nonsense. Everyone along that front row there. Oscar De La Hoya and I had him [Fury] winning by three or four rounds. That’s Oscar and he’s a neutral. He only won one round on two of the judges’ scorecards from rounds six onwards. I mean, what fight were they watching?” said Warren, railing against the judges for not giving his fighter, Fury the win.
