VIDEO: Lennox Lewis vs Today’s Top 10 Heavyweights

How does Lennox Lewis do in today’s heavyweight division?

Lennox had tremendous all around boxing ability. He had an incredibly versatile long jab, he could throw a sledgehammer right hand with devastating knockout power, he had good all around movement with a masterful ability to control the range and dictate the tempo and flow of a fight, and he also had a beautiful ability to launch a mean uppercut.

The biggest knock against Lennox is that he supposedly had a bad chin, where he suffered two knockout losses in his career. The first loss was against Oliver McCall in 1994, and the other was against Hasim Rahman in 2001. Both knockout losses were avenged, marking Lennox as one of the few heavyweight champions in history to have defeated every man he ever faced as a professional.

Lewis has an incredible resume during what is widely viewed as the second best era in heavyweight history. He defeated many of the very best competing at that time, including high profile victories against Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Ray Mercer, Vitali Klitschko, Shannon Briggs, Andrew Golota, Razor Ruddock, Frank Bruno, Michael Grant, and David Tua, among others. Lewis had a professional record of 44-2-1, with 32 wins coming by way of knockout, and more impressive still, his record in championship fights was 15-2-1, with 10 of those wins coming by knockout.

Today’s heavyweight king is Oleksandr Usyk, and the rest of the Top 5 (according to Ring Magazine) includes Tyson Fury, Daniel Dubois, Joseph Parker, Agit Kabayel, and Anthony Joshua. How would Lennox Lewis do against the Top 10 heavyweights competing today?

This edition of Rummy’s Corner will attempt to answer that question, while providing opinions on how Lewis would fare against the current Top 10 according to Ring Magazine. Please watch and enjoy the video. This is Rummy’s Corner (produced and narrated by Geoffrey Ciani).
