Usyk Vows to CRUSH Dubois at Wembley! Can Age Defy Power in This Heavyweight Rematch?

Unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk says he believes he can stop IBF champion Daniel Dubois in their rematch this Saturday at Wembley Stadium in London. Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) acknowledges that Dubois, 27, is a much younger fighter than he is, but he doesn’t believe his age, 38, will prevent him from winning.

Is Dubois Truly Rejuvenated?

Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) lacks ring IQ, and he has a history of quitting in fights when things aren’t going well for him. He claims that he’s been “rejuvenated” after winning his last three fights against notable opposition, but there remains doubt among the fans.

Some fans believe Dubois’ problems in the ring are worsened by his trainer, Don Charles, whom they feel lacks the technical knowledge to help Daniel make adjustments during fights. He’s viewed as focusing too much on Dubois’ power game. With getting the wrong corner advice, it’s junk in, junk out. Starts from the top.

“It’s facts [Oleksandr showing the ravages of age]. I know what I’ve got to do. I am a young guy and I’ve got to take over, be the man and execute him,” said Daniel Dubois during today’s final press conference ahead of his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk this Saturday.

Dubois has won his last three fights against Anthony Joshua, Filip Hrgovic, and Jarrell Miller. While it’s great that Daniel has seemingly turned his career around, what fans fail to understand is that those three were stationary fighters. They were made to order for Dubois. Usyk fights entirely differently, using movement and never standing perfectly still for his bigger opponents to land their shots.

“I feel at the moment I am at the peak of my powers, and it is going to be a great performance,” said Dubois.

Usyk Silences Age Doubters

“I respect this guy [Dubois], this young guy. This guy is motivated, but I am too. I am not an old guy. 38 is not old. We will see on Saturday,” said Usyk.“Yeah, I believe this [scoring a knockout of Dubois].”
