Oleksandr Usyk says he wants to face Daniel Dubois next after ‘DDD’ pulled out of his fight against Joseph Parker for this Saturday.
WBA, WBC, and WBO heavyweight champion Usyk don’t say what made him suddenly turn his attention to fighting IBF champ Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs). It could be the challenge he made to him after his victory over Tyson Fury in their rematch on December 21st.
A victory for Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) over Dubois would make him a two-time heavyweight undisputed champion. That makes the fight worthwhile. Also, it allows Usyk to quiet his critics, who felt that Dubois was robbed of a victory against him in their fight two years ago on August 26, 2023, in Wroclaw, Poland.
Dubois dropped Usyk with a beltline shot in the fifth round. The shot kept Usyk on the canvas for five minutes recovering. However, the referee ruled it as a low blow. Replays showed that it looked like a punch on the beltline.
Usyk’s Next Challenge
“I want to fight next with Dubois,” said Oleksandr Usyk to DAZN Boxing when asked who he wants to face in his next fight.

It would be a risky fight for Usyk to take because if Dubois pulls out like he did against Parker, he’ll have wasted a training camp. The last thing the 38-year-old Usyk needs is to deal with postponements at his age.
Money-wise, Usyk would be better off fighting Fury or Anthony Joshua again, but those guys aren’t going to want to fight him a third time. Usyk already exposed both twice, showing that they were never as good as their loyal fans were led to believe.
It shows you what promoters can do with careful matchmaking. They can turn almost anyone into a star. That tradition continues with the new crop of fighters, fed weak opposition to give the appearance of greatness.
