The United States have never gone back-to-back at the World Juniors in the tournament’s history.
The 2025 team is one win away from doing just that.
A World Juniors champion will be crowned Sunday night in Ottawa, as Team USA faces off against Finland in the gold medal match. The Americans are looking to win their seventh World Juniors title and second in a row. Finland has hopes of winning the championship for the first time since 2019.
The United States punched its ticket to the final with a 4-1 win over Czechia in the semifinals. The Boston College duo of Ryan Leonard and Gabe Perreault shined once again on the big stage for the Americans, each potting a goal and an assist in the win.

Standing in the United States’ way of back-to-back golds at the tournament is Finland. Benjamin Rautiainen’s overtime winner in the semifinals against Sweden sent the nation to the gold medal game, lifting Finland to the 4-3 win. The Finns are the only team to beat Team USA so far at the 2025 tournament. Tuomas Uronen was the hero for the nation in the group play match.
Will the World Juniors gold head to Finland for the first time in over five years? Or will the trophy stay with the United States?
