Under-fire Wolves boss Vitor Pereira has to be restrained during angry confrontation with fans as team booed off pitch

WOLVES boss Vitor Pereira had to be pulled back from an angry confrontation with fans as pressure heaps on his future.

Pereira, 57, is yet to lead his team to victory in the Premier League this season.

And things took a turn for the worse on Sunday.

Wolves battled back from 2-0 down to get level at home to Burnley.

But sub striker Lyle Foster snatched a dramatic 95th-minute winner for Scott Parker’s Clarets.

The result – which left Wolves rooted to the bottom of the table on two points from nine matches – sparked boos at the full-time whistle.

As some of the players trudged off the pitch, skipper Jorgen Strand Larsen went over to apologise to the South Bank.

But after Pereira was hit with chants of “you’re getting sacked in the morning”, he took matters into his own hands to deal with the Molineux discontent.

Video footage showed the manager shouting furiously at supporters, who were jeering back at him and protesting against the owners in chaotic scenes.

Pereira was eventually restrained by a Wolves colleague and dragged away.

The Portuguese replaced Gary O’Neil in December with his side down in 19th.

But he masterminded a superb second half of the season to keep the club in the Premier League.

Pereira even signed a new three-year contract on September 18 – less than six weeks ago – despite losing all four Prem games of the season by that date.

Now, though, Pereira’s future could be hanging by a thread after his public spat with his own supporters.

He said: “What I said to the supporters was, ‘We’re working a lot – and we need to fight together.’

“I understand the frustration. The team gave everything to win.

“If we fight with them (the fans), united, we can win games. Without them, it’s impossible.

“If we win two or three games in a row, everything changes.

“Two months ago they sang my name, but now I understand without results… it’s football.

“Now they sing my name to sack me. This is football.”

After seeing the video, one fan wrote on social media: “This says it all.”

Another said: “Got to go!”

A third added: “Enough is enough now.”

And a final user commented: “He’s definitely getting sacked in the morning.”
