Tyson Fury’s Manager Hints at Potential Anthony Joshua Showdown as AJ Nears Saudi Three-Fight Deal

Tyson Fury’s Manager Hints at Potential Anthony Joshua Showdown as AJ Nears Saudi Three-Fight Deal

Tyson Fury’s manager, Spencer Brown, was mum about whether he’ll come out of his brief retirement for a fight against Anthony Joshua next. He said that AJ still needs to “sign” his three-fight deal with the Saudis first. Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) is rumored to be the first of the three-fight deal for Joshua.

Fury-Joshua Fight Prospects Unveiled

“First of all, they’ve got to sign the deal first. That’s the most important part,” said Spencer Brown to Boxing News when asked about the possibility of Tyson Fury fighting Anthony Joshua as part of the three-fight deal AJ is negotiating with the Saudis for.

Joshua’s Three-Fight Plan

  1. Tyson Fury
  2. Dillian Whyte
  3. Jared Anderson

Joshua could probably fight Fury twice if their first match is competitive and interesting for the fans. Fury mustn’t resort to the ugly mauling that he used to defeat Deontay Wilder twice. All that holding and leaning that Tyson did in their last two fights was so boring to watch. There was no technique involved; it was just Fury grabbing the spindly-legged Deontay in a Grizzly Bear hold, and mauling him until he tired. Fury tried that same tactic against former UFC champion Francis Ngannou, and it didn’t work.

“What they’re very good at, the Saudi Arabians, is a course, a road, and they want to know what road it is. If they can get the road in the right place, they’ll sign whatever deal you want as long as you’re happy and they’re happy with it. But they think forward,” said Spencer.

The Saudis obviously know that there’s still interest from fans in a Fury-Joshua fight, as long as it’s made fairly soon. It would be a bad idea for Joshua to fight someone before that because he’d likely lose if it’s a halfway decent heavyweight. His punch resistance looks gone.

Urgency for the Battle of Britain

After 12 years as a pro, AJ’s ability to take a hard shot has left him, and he’d be finished off by almost any heavyweight in the top tier. As such, it’s important that the Saudis make the ‘Battle of Britain’ clash between Tyson and Joshua soon. It’s too risky to trust either of these two worn-out British heavyweights against anyone from this era.

Fury’s Current Form, Health

“So, it’s a great deal for Anthony Joshua, isn’t it? A three-fight deal. Amazing. Is Tyson retired? Like I say, we never know, do we? But he’s very busy at the moment. He’s actually in the best place I’ve ever seen him. He’s 12 pounds above his fighting weight as well. He looks really well. He’s happy,” said Spencer about Fury.

For Fury to be keeping his weight down, pulling a trolley around with his kids in the back, it’s a signal that he smells the green stuff and is getting ready for when Anthony Joshua signs his three-fight deal with the Saudis. The money that Tyson would be getting for one or two fights against AJ. From two fights, Fury’s earnings could be as high as $300 million.

Half Billion Dollar Fury

His net worth is estimated at $160 million. If he can get two fights against Joshua, it’ll take his net worth close to half a billion. Assuming he beats AJ in both fights, Fury could put himself in position for a clash against whoever is at the top holding the four belts at heavyweight. That would potentially drive his income to over $600 million. That’s an incredible amount for a flawed fighter that would have been food for the prime versions of Lennox Lewis, George Foreman, Vitali Klitschko, and Mike Tyson.

“He’s got his kids with him constantly. Will he fight again? He’s ‘The Gypsy King,’ who knows?” said Spencer, trying to create intrigue about whether Fury returns.

I’m pretty sure that Spencer has a good idea about what Fury’s plans are, whether he’ll come out of retirement or not. He knows obviously that Fury loves money, and he’s not going to resist doubling his net worth for two or three fights against the shell of Anthony Joshua.
