His reward is watching the WBA invent a higher tier out of thin air to accommodate two fighters who enter the ring with zero championship claims.
The super champion designation was created to honor unifications and dominant multi-belt reigns. Fury and Joshua possess none of that hardware today. Handing an elite designation to a pair of contenders coming off non-title bouts shreds the integrity of the rankings. The organization relies on discretionary clauses in its rulebook, but pulling bureaucratic rank to vault two big-name fighters past an active titlist exposes pure promotional favoritism.
Commercial convenience drives the maneuver. Attaching a world title to a global Netflix event allows the sanctioning body to secure maximum bout fees and purse percentages capped at five hundred thousand dollars total between both corners. That payday completely derails the campaign the organization spent years trumpeting, abandoning its pledge to eliminate duplicate titles and reduce every division to a single recognized champion.
Cardiff promises massive global exposure, but it leaves the division splintered. The victor will inevitably chase an immediate rematch, an undisputed bout, or walk away into retirement. Gassiev will find zero incentive from the winner to stage a dangerous, low-reward clash.

Inventing a world title specifically for them rewrites the entire definition of what a championship represents. The primary outrage sits squarely with the blatant demotion of Murat Gassiev. The sanctioning body spent years running a public relations victory lap, swearing to clean up its reputation by phasing out multiple champions and establishing one belt per weight class.
That promise evaporated the second Netflix and the Saudi backers dangled a massive live event. Hardcore fans know better. A real world title cannot be handed out as a promotional party favor to two aging fighters years past their absolute prime. Casual fans will view it as a real world title fight because the television screen tells them to. The mainstream audience does not follow sanctioning body mandates, title unifications, or mandatory rankings. To someone who watches boxing once every two years, whoever walks out of Cardiff with that belt looks like the king.
